Timothy Armstrong of the World Health Organization states that anabolic steroids are dangerous for public health. While these products are widely applied by athletes, bodybuilders and ordinary persons for increase of muscles and energy, they may have negative influence on physical and mental health of consumers. Unfortunately, risks connected with these preparations are not treated seriously. However many specialists warn that these preparations may cause severe side consequences, numerous individuals continue to administer them for athletic purposes.
Timothy Armstrong puts efforts to protect public health. He has presented a speech about administration of steroids at a conference organized by the chairman of the International Olympic Committee Arne Ljungqvist. Thus, Timothy Armstrong helps to eliminate illicit application of steroids.
As for Arne Ljungqvist, he tries to fight against usage of steroids in sports. According to the chairman of the International Olympic Committee, administration of steroids represents a moral problem. Those that use performance-enhancing don’t compete fairly. They take unfair advantage over those who don’t apply these drugs. Thus, they act improperly.
Undoubtedly, Arne Ljungqvist is happy that Timothy Armstrong is also against application of steroids. He claims that anti-doping agencies should work with the World Health Organization more closely. The united efforts will be capable to eradicate application of performance-enhancing drugs from professional sports.
Timothy Armstrong states that anti-doping agencies should have direct connections with law enforcements and customs officers. If they work together, their war on illegal deals related to steroids and other controlled substances will be more effective. They should inform each other about individuals that have something to do with illicit drugs. So, they will be able to reach their goals.
