Spain’s police arrested Dr. Alberto Beltran Nino and some other persons

Spain’s police officers busted a large doping ring.
According to reports of police officers, athletes that tested positive at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2010 Vuelta a Espana acquired steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs from this doping ring.
10 individuals that were involved in this doping ring were arrested. Professional cyclists and other sportspersons had links with this illegal drug network.  It represented a popular doping ring in the world of top athletes.
The investigation was nicknamed “Operation Skype”. Dr.  Alberto Beltran Nino was the leader of the drug ring. He is a former doctor of Liberty Seguros team. This man was detained and sentenced to imprisonment, when he tried to fly from Madrid to Columbia. Cezar Perez, the former personal trainer of the athlete Marta Dominguez, was also arrested by Spain’s police.
Although the center of the illegal drug ring was established in Barcelona, it represented an international company. The ring was related to Morocco and Columbia. Steroids, HGH and EPO CERA were offered for sale by this illicit drug ring.
Dr. Beltran also worked with Xacobeo-Galicia team. David Garcia, the road bicycle racer of this team, tested positive for EPO at the 2010 Vuelta.
The investigation began summer last year. It was originally connected with the Spanish runner Jose Luis Blanco after he was sentenced to 2-year ban due to positives for prohibited drugs.
